To Kathleen Moran, it seemed that the most challenging part for these children with all these different types of disabilities was the communication piece so she decided to return to school and get a masters degree in Speech/ Language Pathology. Over the years, Kathleen studied many different techniques to help facilitate the communication process such as oral motor and PROMPT therapy to help meet the needs of each individual child.

Kathleen is able to evaluate and provide the appropriate type or a combination of therapies to stimulate and language development. Kathleen also worked in a school setting with student ages three to twelve who have language based learning disabilities.

Kathleen then became trained in the Orton Gillingham approach to teaching reading. The Orton Gillingham approach to teaching reading is a multi-sensory approach that incorporates the visual, auditory and tactile modalities that are so important for children who might have language or auditory/phonological processing delays.

The entire staff of Bergen Pediatric Therapy’s goal is to broaden the possibilities of all children and families they serve. They strive daily to provide excellent comprehensive services to each child by not only serving the child’s needs but by also supporting all members of the family.
